The Departmental Administration propels the Integral Management Plan of Solid Residues with members from different schools; after training, teachers must deliver the plan to their students, within the academic curriculum to be massive and made known to these groups in the community.

On June 18th, 2010 at the library of the Technical Industrial Institute of the Island of San Andres, was carried out the first capacitation by the Special Administrative Unit of Public Service and the Secretariat of Education with professors from the Island on the Integral Management Plan of Solid Residue (PGIRS) with the objective to raise awareness and introducing the PGIRS, basic definitions, objectives, background, structure of PGIRS, programs, and projects of such.

It should be noted that the Integral Management Plan of Solid Residues is the soul and nerve for the good management of structures of solid wastes, situation where the Island is fully implemented and under the current regulations.

Such training was given by the Environmental Engineer Maria Paola Velez, contractor of the Special Administrative Unit of Public Service of the Departmental Government with the support of the Departmental Secretariat of Education in completing the projects that make up PGIRS and in them they addressed all the basic aspects that teachers must deliver to their students within the academic curriculum to be massive and made known to these groups in the community.

The group was formed by teachers from the Luis Amigo School, Sagrada Familia, INASAR, Bolivariano Institute, CEMED, Brooks Hill, Antonio Nariño, and Technical Industrial Institute.

As a result, the teaching assistance staff raised awareness of the proper management that must be given to the residues in the island, and has the support of PGIRS which rules through resolution 05001 of 2007 since 2006 and will culminate in 2021.
