A Reflection on Human Rights

In other words, the principle that underlines the process of securing rights of all human being is that, we are all free and have the rights to pursue our freedom without any external pressure.

As a result, this principle has actually been the one that the United Nation has adopted to ensure that the humanity of all people are protected, preserved and enhanced throughout the entire world. This act was a response to the tragedies of World War II.

In light of this brief historical fact on human rights. I am a firm believer that it is our task as social, spiritual and other areas of leadership on our territory to ensure that the principle of human rights don’t remain on papers only but become a reality in our daily practice as leaders.

In fact, I believe that today more than all since our ancestral, cultural and territorial rights are being violated on daily basis, we all here must become restless until the rights of the creole/native/Raizal people are respected, enhanced and not trampled upon as it is being done by both the national and local government of Colombia.

We must join the 56 members of the United Nations on the 10th of December in 1948, that unanimously voted and adopted the United Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). And in it’s preamble stated, “Recognition of the  inherent dignity and of equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice, and peace in the world.”

This observation of human rights in the preamble, should become the priority of every person that considers his/herself leaders among the owners of this territory.
